Our partnership with GWEP began with a mutual purpose—how can we better care for some of the most vulnerable in our community? Robin Bruce Sustaining Presence
The Robin Bruce Sustaining Presence Award honors individuals and organizations whose dedication and contributions create communities of care. This year, we are privileged to recognize Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church (MDPC) as the award recipient.
For over 30 years, MDPC has been a devoted mission partner, program host, and benefactor of CarePartners. From hosting our Gathering Place and Second Family programs to providing ongoing financial support and guidance, MDPC exemplifies what it means to be a sustaining presence in service to Houston’s most vulnerable populations.

Dr. Ronald H. Sunderland Volunteer of the Year
We celebrate Janie Neighbors, a founding member of the Gathering Place Care Team at Houston’s First Baptist Church, established in partnership with CarePartners in July 2008. Janie leads a dedicated team of over 35 volunteers with thoughtfulness, compassion, and unwavering commitment. As a role model, Janie embodies the values of the Gathering Place program, consistently working to uplift and support the families they serve. Her tireless leadership and caring heart make her a true DIFFERENCE MAKER, creating a welcoming, loving environment for everyone she touches.
